Peter graduated at the University of Port Elizabeth, (as it was then known) when he obtained his B. Juris degree in 1969
He thereafter obtained his LLB degree in 1972 whilst employed by the Department of Justice as an Assistant Magistrate and Public Prosecutor.
He did his articles of clerkship under Mr P.C. van Staden of the firm P.C. van Staden, Venter & Co. in Port Elizabeth. He was admitted as an attorney in 1976.
In 1980 he joined the firm Ivan Wilke & Weiss of Port Elizabeth as a partner.
In 2001 that firm which was then known as Wilke, Weiss, van Rooyen & Preston was incorporated and he became one of the first partners in the incorporated practice of Wilke Weiss van Rooyen.
At the end of May 2017 he joined Lexicon Attorneys as a partner and director when the two practices merged.
Peter has been involved in Practical Legal Training for the Law Society of South Africa for many years and will continue with such training especially i.r.o the Law of Contract.
Peter is currently the Chairperson of the Small Claims Court Advisory Board for the area of Port Elizabeth and also presides as Commissioner in that Court.
Peter concentrates on Commercial Law and Litigation mainly in the fields of the Law of
Contract and Delict as well as Insurance Law. He has the Right of Appearance in the High Court.
